What is the "Latching Solenoid Valve"?
In the case of a normally closed type of conventional solenoid valve, continuous energization is required to maintain an open state. The latching solenoid valve doesn't require a power supply for the purpose of maintaining open state through the utilization of a permanent magnet. Benefits of using the Latching Solenoid Valve

Eco-friendly and energy efficient:
A latching solenoid valve does not require energization to maintain its state, so for applications where a conventional valve would require long periods of energization the economical benefits are significant.

Low heat generation limiting thermal influence on surroundings:
As energization is not required to maintain the state, the heat generation associated with energization is reduced. Suitable for analytical fields and other applications where the effect of temperature on a fluid is a concern. The "EL Series" pinch valve is an example of one product that uses this mechanism. Other latching solenoid pinch valves and diaphragm valves are also available.

Compact and powerful:
A large current is necessary to create a large force from a solenoid, however to prevent a burnout it is usually necessary to make a larger size of solenoid (i.e. a larger electrical capacitance), or to limit the energization to short periods of time.
However as the heat generation in a latching solenoid is suppressed, large power outputs can be achieved without restraints on energization time or the size of the solenoid. This contributes to compact sizing and a high-pressure rating, and also allows for a continuous duty cycle.

*1: When the control input changes from a low level to a high level, provide output of + voltage to the J2 pin No. 1 and - voltage to the J2 pin No. 2, and when the control input changes from a high level to a low level, provide output of - voltage to the J2 pin No. 1 and + voltage to the J2 pin No. 2, respectively. (The above + and - voltages correspond to the VM input voltage.)
*2: When the H-level pulse is inputted to the pulse request input, the voltage is outputted to the J2 pin in the direction corresponding to the control input level at that time. (When the control input level is high, + voltage is outputted to the J2 pin 1 and - voltage to the J2 pin 2, and when the control input level is low, - voltage is outputted to the J2 pin 1 and + voltage to the J2 pin 2, respectively.)
