Suitable for applications where constant and frequent medium replacement is required. (e.g., iPS cell culture)
-
Automatic medium replacement
The culture medium is replaced automatically at a specified interval (12, 24, 48, or 72 hours*). *Can be customized.
-
It can be used in an incubator
The system can operate continuously for up to 7 days with batteries and can be placed in an incubator without any wiring.
-
It can be placed on a stage of a microscope
The 6-well plate can remain in the system and be placed on a microscope stage when you observe the cells, reducing environmental changes.
-
Disposable
All system components that are exposed to the medium are replaceable.
Note: Details such as specifications, etc., may be changed without notice.
APPLICATION EXAMPLES
Case 1. hiPSC (Human-Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells)
Colony growth was successfully observed for 4 days after passage (engraftment), during which the culture medium was automatically replaced by our system.
[EXPERIMENT CONDITION]
- Cells: 253G1 Human iPS cells (NHDF reprogrammed by 3 factors; Oct3/4, Sox2, Klf4)
- Feeder Cells: MMC treated SNL76/7 cells
- Medium: DMEM-12 (including KSR, NEAA, PSG, 2-ME, bFGF)

Case 2. Embryoid Bodies (EB) of mouse iPS cells
iPS cells were cultured in Knockout D-MEM-based myocardial differentiation medium using our system, and pulsation of differentiation-inducted cardiomyocytes derived from mouse iPS cells was observed.

FAQ
Q. How much medium can be replaced?
A. The volume of medium is 3.0 mL/well during culture, of which Approx. 2.7 mL/well must be replaced (Only if using Takasago recommended well plate).
Note: If Takasago recommended well plates are not used, the well depth could differ, resulting in different replacement medium volumes. The medium replacement volume is customizable as an option.
Q. What are the wetted parts made of?
A. SUS304 (nozzle), PP (bottle), PP (straw), silicone (tube).
Q. How frequently is the medium replaced?
A. Every 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours are our basic setting. The interval setting can be customized.
Q. What should be used as the power supply?
A. AC adapter or two AA alkaline batteries.
Note: Do not use nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries because the controller may be damaged by the gas generated.
Q. What is the capacity of the reservoir bottle?
A. 125 mL for the standard set corresponds to the volume of 5 times replacement.
You can choose 15ml conical tubes as an option.
Q. When should I replace the batteries?
A. We have confirmed 7 consecutive days of operation under 24-hour medium replacement interval. However, we recommend early replacement.
Q. Which type of well plate is adaptable?
A. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.: NUNC # 140675 and Sumitomo Bakelite
MS-80060 is our recommendation.
Note: A standard 6-well plate can also be used, but the residual medium volume may change.
Q Is there any application example?
A Cardio myogenic differentiation of iPS cells, culture of chicken cardiomyocytes, and colony formation in undifferentiated iPS cells.
Q. Is it possible to use in a CO2 incubator?
A. Yes.
Q. What is the reliability of replacement fluid volume?
A. Less than 10% /well.
Q. How much is the flow rate of the pump?
A. Approximately 0.8 mL/min per tubing.
Q. Is it possible to autoclave the disposable components and bottles?
A. Basically, we do not recommend it. Although autoclavable materials are used, the well plate top cover (inner lid) would be deformed by autoclaving.
Q. What other options are available?
A. We are considering an option to keep the medium cool. For more requests and questios, please feel free to contact us.
Q. How much is the system?
A. The main body (CEME-0200) is $1,844. The disposable component set with two 125 mL bottles is $60 with six 15 mL tubes, $91.
Q. Are disposable components and bottles sterilized?
A. Yes, both are gamma-ray sterilized before shipment.
Note: Details such as specifications, etc., may be changed without notice.
